Our Story

The City of Port Colborne is strategically located in the Niagara Region and next door to Hamilton, the Greater Toronto Area, and Buffalo, New York USA. Businesses are attracted to the City because of its location which positions local businesses at the heart of North America’s largest market with access to 59 million consumers across the Great Lakes region. There are 135 million consumers and 48% of the total US income within one day’s drive of the City. Port Colborne is only 20 minutes from the US Border and 90 minutes from the GTA. Port Colborne’s unique multi-modal transportation network allows for the efficient transportation and distribution of bulk materials by water, rail, road and air. Port Colborne is close to 3 major international airports (Toronto, Hamilton and Buffalo). The City also owns the local railway offering competitive rates and excellent service.

The City of Port Colborne has a vibrant tourism, heritage, arts and culture sector with significant opportunities for investment. The local population increases significantly during the months of May to September when our seasonal residents arrive; drawn to the community because of its generous climate, beautiful beaches, our Sugarloaf Marina with over 700 attractive slips and cultural attractions. The city also offers historic shopping districts, variety of restaurants, selection of natural attractions and recreation facilities, which explains why Port Colborne is regarded by many as a unique holiday destination.
