Our Story

Monroe County has a very scenic landscape and high quality of life. The biggest asset for our County is accessibility. We have 2 Interstates that merge in our County along with an extensive State highway system. Our strength is a strong business community, whether you are located in the Cities of Sparta or Tomah or are in one of our smaller villages. The great outdoors is a draw because of the Elroy-Sparta Bike Trail, great hunting and fishing and a 4 season recreational area. Fort McCoy calls Monroe County home. The largest employer in the County, this Army base works very closely with everyone in the County. Our County has a very positive "why not" attitude which separates us from many of the "how come" areas.
