Moose Jaw is part of the economic win-fall that is changing the face of Saskatchewan. Saskatchewan and Moose Jaw are experiencing sustained growth in virtually every category: population, building permits, housing starts, investments and job formation. These forces are driving growth unseen in the area in more than a century! Strong agricultural production and exports of grain and potash are powerful forces driving the local economy. The area is known for its vast reserves of potash with two solution mines nearby.
The Moose Jaw-Regina Industrial Corridor’s infrastructure base includes railways, major highways, oil and gas pipelines and an abundant water supply. The Corridor is the sweet spot for large industrial development and employs hundreds of local workers.
Investments totaling over $7 billion in the Moose Jaw area will challenge the local labour market’s ability to meet demand. Approximately 900 people already work at the heavy industrial plants located in the Industrial Corridor, with as many as half of them living in Moose Jaw. This number is expected to grow sharply over the next year, as the K+S Potash Mine becomes operational. There will be new job opportunities in trades and technologies, administration, management, and general labouring. Moose Jaw is proud of its culturally diversified workforce with the Moose Jaw Multicultural Council’s Gateway welcoming newcomers.

Local and provincial governments offer a range of incentives to attract new investment. The City of Moose Jaw offers various tax phase-in incentives based on job creation, heritage, tourism, and housing. NEW The City’s Commercial and Industrial Five-Year Tax Phase-In is designed to attract capital investment through new builds and expansions. Provincial sales tax, income tax and municipal property taxes are among the lowest in Canada.
