Our Story
Abbey is a friendly community located in south west Saskatchewan, bordered by the Great Sandhills to the west and South Saskatchewan River to the north. The primary industries of Abbey include agriculture, gas and tourism. Currently, there are approximately 115 residents in the village and 385 in the supporting municipality. Residents of Abbey and surrounding area have an admirable sense of community spirit and pride. After the closure of the school in 2012, the community developed the building into a multi-faceted centre that is now the hub of social, recreation and education events and programs for all ages in the area. In 2013, the Village celebrated it's centennial with a weekend long celebration that attracted thousands of participants. Our strong spirit of volunteerism and community pride will keep this village thriving well into the next centennial celebration!
