LMI Dashboard – Q3 2023 Update
- The workforce increased slightly in May versus last year (+600).
- Employment was also up (+1,000).
- The unemployment rate dipped again to only 6.6% in May.
- Tourism-related employment has now surpassed pre-pandemic levels.
- Manufacturing employment continued to be weak (-16% in May versus last year).
- The number collecting EI dipped sharply in April down 24% over April 2022 and back to pre-pandemic levels.
- 95 immigrants landed in Digby/Yarmouth in Jan-April 2023 – the region is on pace for a record year.
- The number of vacant jobs in the Southern Region rose 44% in Q1 versus Q1 last year.
- The average wage on offer of $23.35 was the highest in Nova Scotia in Q1.
- Sales and service jobs and health-related jobs are the most in-demand.
