Start your day at the Neligh Mill State Historic Site; built by John Neligh in 1873, the Neligh Mill is the only mill in Nebraska that retains the original equipment in its entirety. Then visit the Antelope County Museum to learn the history and adventure of Antelope County; while there, stop by the Pierson Wildlife Museum and Learning Center for a one-of-a-kind, world-class taxidermy display which includes the Big Five, the Grand Slam, a western black rhino, and over 100 full body mounts of other big game trophies from around the world.
After lunch at one of Neligh's eateries, drive up to Ashfall Fossil Beds State Historic Park and witness an active dig for the fossils of hundreds of prehistoric animals preserved in volcanic ash. The Visitor Center features interactive displays along with a working fossil preparation laboratory. Finish off the afternoon back in Neligh with a round of Golf at Antelope Country Club, or take the family to Riverside Park and cool off in the Neligh Pool.
