Our Story
Gilbert Plains is a quiet, friendly community nestled in a valley rich in agriculture between the Riding Mountains to the south and the Duck Mountains to the north, Lake Dauphin to the east and Lake of the Prairies to the west. We boast that our 18 hole golf course and campground is one of the most unique within the Province and beyond.
A tour of the Negrych Pioneer Homestead Heritage Site takes you back in time and gives you an appreciation of what our forefathers endured. When in the area, check out our museum and other historical sites. A lighthouse on the Valley River also makes the area unique. Our community is proud of its ability to offer an annual three-day fair and rodeo, recreational facilities and programming for all age groups; including such things as golf, bowling, skating, curling, theatre group, and senior dance. We also offer senior’s programs, senior’s health care services, two schools, daycare services and many other day to day necessities.
