Formed by the January 1, 2015 amalgamation of the RM of Bifrost and the Village of Riverton, the Municipality of Bifrost-Riverton is located in Manitoba's Interlake Region, laying along on the west shore of Lake Winnipeg. The municipality has a rural population of about 2,976 people, with the community of Riverton boasting a population of about 538 people. The Municipality of Bifrost-Riverton includes the communities of Riverton, Morweena, Okno and Hnausa. The Town of Arborg is surrounded by the municipality.
In summer, main attractions are the sandy beaches and the Arborg Aquatic Park which features water slides, spray park and an Olympic size swimming pool. The Arborg & District Multicultural Heritage Village is a great way to spend a day, and the development of the Riverton Transportation Heritage Centre promises much to look forwards to. The rivers, marshes and creeks are good for people to fish in during the summer and to hunt in during the winter. Winter boasts many activities such as snowmobiling, cross country skiing, ice fishing and snowshoeing. Both independently and in partnership with the Town of Arborg, the municipality offers walking trails, baseball diamonds, playgrounds, parks, hockey arenas, curling rinks and community halls.
