Our Story

One of the fastest growing municipalities in BC, Sooke was discovered in 1790 by Spanish explorer Manuel Quimper.

Located on the most southwesterly tip of Canada, this hidden coastal treasure is only a 30 minute drive from Victoria via the scenic Highway 14. Sooke is a picturesque, ocean-side town boasting top-rated restaurants, world-renowned accommodations, and a variety of retail shops. The town is flanked by beautiful rainforests, windswept coastlines and beaches, and is bordered by numerous provincial parks and hiking trails.

Considered one of the world’s best fishing destinations, visitors can enjoy a year-round bounty of salmon, halibut, cod and trout with the unique opportunity for both salt-water and fresh-water sport-fishing activities.

Sooke hosts a number of very successful annual exhibits, workshops and shows celebrating the artisans of the region. The town is also home to the Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra. Founded by world-renowned maestro Norman Nelson, this 60 member semi-professional orchestra performs numerous beautiful indoor and outdoor concerts each year.

With the mildest climates and fastest growing economies in Canada, Sooke truly has something for everyone.
